Foundation of the first Panama City (Panamá Viejo).
1521
Pirate Henry Morgan and his troops sacked and destroyed Panama City.
1671
The Spanish Crown approved the relocation of the original city and it was rebuilt in what is known today as the Casco Antiguo.
1673
Construction of the Santa Iglesia Catedral Basílica Metropolitana Santa María La Antigua Primada en Tierra Firme
1674
Construction of the San Jose Church (Also known as Golden Altar Church).
1675
Foundation of la Compañía de Jesús by The Society of Jesus, commonly called Jesuits, religious order founded in 1534.
1688
The Spanish Crown approved the relocation of the original city and it was rebuilt in what is known today as the Casco Antiguo.
1737
“La Real y Pontificia Universidad de San Javier” was founded as the first University of the Republic of Panama (French Wing).
1739-1744
Second fire, the “Small Fire,” destroyed at least 90 houses of the Casco Antiguo.
1756
The King of Spain, Carlos III, signed the Pragmatic Sanction expelling the Jesuits back to Toledo. Most died in the exile.
1767
The earthquake of 1798 strongly affected the building of the current French Wing, causing the collapse of the central area.
1798
During the 19th century, the building was repurposed as the Hotel Washington and then as the International Club.
1820
On March 12, 1881, Ferdinand de Lesseps began the first phase of the construction of the French Canal.
1881
Panama and the United States signed a treaty whereby the United States undertook and continued the interoceanic canal.
1903
American Bazaar is created, the first department store in Panama City (American Wing).
1904
Red Cross was founded by Lady Mallet in the place that today is El Santuario (Spanish Wing).
1916

1970
Hotel La Compañía acquires the ruins of La Compañía de Jesús and begins planning and preparation to restore the convent.
2014
Archaeologists' work commences to explore the site and save the heritage.
2015
Restoration process of every area begins.
2018
Discovery of the Well at Casa Washington among with other artifacts. The Well is the oldest structure found, dating back to 1688.
2019
Hotel La Compañía opens its doors after 8 years of restoration. Our “Living Museum” is reborn.
